The need for water in the daily life

Water is to human body what petrol is to the engine of a car. In fact all the minute cells and organs which complete the anatomy of human body require a specific amount of water for proper functioning. It is a very well- known fact that our bodies maintain as well as control over- heating through the process of perspiration.

This is when the sweat glands present in our skin evaporate water; hence providing us with a cooling effect. Through the process of perspiration, the blood flowing closer to skin is also cooled down in a cycle which starts in the womb and ends with the death of an individual.

Impact of sea level rise. Through the continuous flow of adequate amount of water throughout our systems, the essential components of blood, such as blood plasma, also gets a way of transporting throughout our body. This circulating blood plasma plays a very pivotal role in buffering the pH level of our body and also helps in the circulation of antibodies to and from the immune system. Water retention in body also leads to the regulation of osmotic balance, which is necessary for maintaining the proper temperature of our body.

Water also serves as an important lubricant by assisting in all processes taking place in our body, such as digestion and breathing. When we chew food, there is saliva generated which helps us in the process of swallowing and digesting the food. The presence of water also ensures that food slides down the esophagus easily; while also providing lubrication to the cartilages and joints.

When the body is well hydrated, it also lubricates the joints and keep friction away. Friction in joints can cause various kinds of pains, such as knee pain, joint pain, and back pain and so on. Similarly, there is plenty of lubrication required for the proper working of our eyes as well. Water is an abundant natural chemical molecules composed of hydrogen and oxygen. It exists in the atmosphere as water vapor, rivers, lakes, at the poles, glaciers, in soil moisture, groundwater and even in the living things.

For humans and other living beings, water is very important to be consumed so that our body can continue to function properly.

When a person suffers a state of dehydration or lack of water, our body begins to lose capabilities to function properly and it could even cause death. Besides being essential for the proper functioning of the human body, water promotes life in many other ways. Water is also important for growth of plants. Water coming through irrigation or rain is responsible for growing all kinds of plants and vegetation that exists on this planet. It is known that without water, life on earth would never have begun.

In rural areas, the supply of drinking water is hopelessly inadequate. Causes for water crisis: India has built mega dams for irrigation, but her water management system has not received due attention. We are told that water crisis has touched millions people across several states. Arsenic contaminated water made the problem more grave.

During the monsoon, many areas of India are flooded, causing widespread damage to life and property and this enormous quantity of water is allowed to flow down into the sea. If the rain water is harvested and preserved in tanks and reservoir regularly, it may help us to tide over the water crisis. In urban areas, water harvesting should be mandatory. Fortunately, in some states, arrangements are afoot to harvest every-drop of rainwater.

Further, we can save water in our daily life by doing minor acts such as, putting off the water tap while not in use, use water wisely while bathing, using rainwater for cleaning bathrooms, etc.
