It has always been a religious expression. The Constitution of the United States of America has laid down the foundation of the concept of Religious Liberty where the State cannot interfere with the religious practice and experience of citizens.
Almost immediately, the government crossed this line in the regulation and licensing of Marriage. Because, at the time, the government's definition of Marriage corresponded with the great majority of the citizen's religious belief of marriage this line crossing was unobserved. Then a few people wanted to divorce their spouses which violated the religious doctrine of many Americans. The government changed its definition of marriage and began to interfere even more with the religious beliefs of more and more citizens.
More recently, even fewer people wanted to marry people of the same gender. Once again, the government is changing its definition of marriage and is interfering with even more of the religious beliefs of more and more citizens.
I might also suggest that civil privileges like lower taxes for married couples that are not given to single people violate the concept of equal protection under the law. Some local and state governments have created legal "civil unions" for homosexual couples and given them all the same legal rights and responsibilities as those in "legal" marriages. I propose that the government withdraw from its unconstitutional interference with Marriage which is a religious institution.
The government should reclassify all "legal" marriages to civil unions. The definition of civil union is then up to what the government decides and does not interfere with the religious institution of Marriage. With love in Christ. In previous times morals were fixed by spiritual principles not by today's man's logic based on what is claimed to be tolerance.
The founding Fathers saw that Bible guidance was basically good! Christianity is a faith that is accepted, not forced on a person. So these Biblical values were embraced by the majority in these two countries.
The above 3 points are very relevant to your subject. The Bible by far is the most bought book in the world. Many people have died to publish it or spread it. This is because it is God's guidance to mankind, his spirit working through committed believers to write the Books. Teaching on sexual morality that is quite clearly given in both Old and New Testaments says that for a man to lie with a woman and for women to lust for one another is an abomination to God.
Are there still separate schools, and drinking fountains for blacks and whites? The answer is no because society has built up tolerance. Twenty years ago, the debate to allow same sex marriage was unheard of. It may not happen today but same sex marriage is an inevitable truth.
Families used to have a black and white definition. Family included a husband and a wife of the same race with their own, biological children. This definition of a family has been redefined to accommodate interracial marriages, with adopted children, step parents, and step children. It is a fact that families exist now that have two moms or two dads and the opportunity for them to marry can only make life easier for them and their children.
The legalization of same sex marriage will create a stronger family foundation and a stronger sense of family for every member. America is a very tolerant country with many freedoms and rights. There are some countries, however, that are less fortunate than us who discriminate against gender and class. If America is as tolerant as it is and still cannot completely tolerate gay and lesbian people, then I am sure that there are countries that are completely against gay tolerance.
For example, Americans allow women to wear scandalous clothing but some middle eastern countries severely punish women who show anything but their eyes. If women are punished for showing arm skin, then the punishment for two men kissing would be obscene. I believe that same sex marriage should be legalized ,however, the marriage would not be in the eyes of God. It would be a legal union between two people. Legalizing gay marriage is so important to me because I would like to live in a country that does not discriminate and allows all its people to live in equality.

They further believe that marriage would no longer have the same meaning if homosexual couples find alternative methods of having children Nagle First, every person has a right to exercise and acquire freedom and equality as a basic law.
In many countries such as the United States same sex marriages are outlawed although some government leaders insist on legalizing the gay marriages because they believe in the principle of equality. The church opposes same sex marriage since they believe that the bible instructs how Christians should properly live. The church believes that God wants marriage which is between a man and a woman.
